Highlights of year 2011 + welcome, 2012

This previous year has been amazing in every way. I have experienced so much, met wonderful people and have seen so many new places.
I have played a lot of concerts, which have helped developing, both musically and personally.

In January, two of my songs ("Everyone is a part of love" + "If I could fly into the night") were published on a cd: "Songwriters in the dark" (idea by Steffen Rasmussen). Then followed by a release party at Musikcaféen in Aarhus.
With the help of a scholarship given by “Skanderborg Talentpulje”, it was possible for me to live in England (Cambridge) for 4 months. I met wonderful and warm people, who were very open-minded towards new cultures. I met guitarist, Andrew Hosker and together, we played a lot of concerts on local pubs, bars and venues in Cambridge (with my original music and covers, as well). I recorded some covers at Anglia Ruskin’s University, made a music video with dear friend, Mark Pickering, and I did some co-writing projects with local musicians (genres: folk + R&B). While I was there I received solo singing lessons in vocal training by local jazz singer, Cath Coombs from Cambridge. It was a lovely period of time and also really exciting to have solo lessons again. During the time in England, some of my songs were played in local radio – thanks to Bob Meyer for the great help!
My time in Cambridge was fantastic and I will never forget it. The city is warm, old and cultural. The city’s atmosphere is unique and while walking in the old streets, you feel the history of the city.
London is also a fantastic city and has so many sides to it, but Cambridge has a special place in my heart.
It has been intense and full of inspiration. While living in England I started working on several musical projects (a folk project with 6-7 songs written during my time in England, influenced by the British culture and another project with the genre: pop/electronical). Further more, I am working on my second album, which has a more alternative and industrial sound to it.

When I returned to Denmark again, I played a lot of gigs and had a wonderful time doing that. One of my songs (called “Feathers”) was reviewed on chartbase.dk. Over the summer, I played at three festivals: Askov Festival and Copenhagen Songwriter Festival, which were wonderful. The biggest experience was to play at Skanderborg Festival. It was the best and it went really well! Afterwards, I was reviewed in gaffa: http://gaffa.dk/artikel/51545
In autumn 2011, I played a gig at Fermaten. It was an exciting gig, because of the fact of being warm-up for a well-known Danish band (Retox Panic) and it was also the first time playing with new guitarist, Jens Jakob Kristensen, which went really great! In October, I supported the wonderful singer Eivør Pálsdóttir at Dexter in Odense and it was fantastic. I have so much respect for her as an artist and the fact that she wanted to give me this chance is beautiful.
I started working on a co-writing project with the lovely singer, Laura Kaule. We have a few songs now and it will be exciting to see what’s going to happen, when we get further in the project. Further more, I started recording new material in the studio and it was really nice to be back again, especially because of the huge amount of inspiration in my mind. In December, I was mentioned on gaffa because of the "MP3-julekalender” - http://gaffa.dk/nyhed/55691.
Recently, I was contacted and I am now associated with a booking management (http://www.umer-booking.dk/).
I am sure that it will give me a lot of great experiences in year 2012!

One word that also describes this year is “travelling”. Besides living in England for 4 months. I travelled a lot and visited Ireland, Wales, Spain, Greece. In summer 2011, I was on interrail in Eastern Europe and visited Czech Republic, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Slovakia and Italy. Later in the year, I returned to England for just a week to visit friends and have a great time.
As one could guess, I love travelling. It is wonderful to meet new people, experience new places, cultures and see beautiful nature spots and scenery.

There are a lot of people to thank for making this previous year even better. I can’t mention them all, but here is a special thanks to:
- Steffen Rasmussen (for including me on “Songwriters in the Dark”)
- Cath Coombs (for being a great teacher and becoming a friend)
- Andrew Hosker (for being open-minded, a good friend and playing concerts with me in Cambridge)
- Mark Pickering (for support, being a good friend, recording and making of a music video)
- Bob Meyer (for playing me in “Bob Folk’s Show”)
- Venues and pubs in Cambridge (for being open-hearted towards new musicians)
- Skanderborg Talentpulje (It is amazing that there’s such a focus and interest in supporting young people and their passions)
- Rampelyset + Gyngen (for supporting a local creative mind)
- Søren Sørensen + Birthe Laursen (for support and great help)
- Brett Perkins (for letting me play at Copenhagen Songwriter Festival)
- Eivør Pálsdóttir (for giving me the chance to sing with her and being such a wonderful artist and friend. It means a lot to me!)
- Ry Bibliotek + Ry Kirke (for supporting a local creative mind)
- Søren Kristensen (for support and playing guitar and most importantly that you have blossomed on stage and so has our friendship).
- Jens Jakob Kristensen (for support, playing guitar, an open mind and more great experiences to come in year 2012)

Welcome, 2012:

I am sure that year 2012 will be just as good as 2011 – maybe even better. I already have a lot of plans for what’s going to happen and I am really looking forward to it:

I have received another scholarship from “Skanderborg Talentpulje”, so I can make a co-writing project with British folk musician, Dan Wilde, who I met in Cambridge. It will support the recording and publishing of an EP. Besides, we are also going to play concerts in England and Denmark, so we can play the new material live.
Other plans: I have confirmed gigs in Denmark and England + soon I am going to start performing with a band and that will also be great to try something new and get a “new” sound!

A few months ago, I bought a piano and started working on a new song which suddenly to more songs and now I have an entire album, which soon is going be ready to be recorded in the studio. I am really excited about this project! It is going to be different, influenced by a lot of cultures, artists, dreams, thoughts, nature and inspiration. You will definitely hear some of it soon and I am almost sure that it will be published in year 2012!

Thanks for your everlasting support!
Yours,
Eva Lucia

Plans:
January: Gigs + working on new material
February: Travelling (Italy)
March: Gigs + travelling (England – making of the EP-project)
April: Gigs + recording of EP-project with Dan Wilde

First gigs in UK

First of all… I am so happy about my life right now! It’s wonderful to be living in UK at the moment. I spend a lot of time in Cambridge, where there is a great environment for musicians, a lot of places to get gigs and small nice pubs. The city has a magical atmosphere and you just feel that you can spend all your time there. People are really open-minded concerning new singer-songwriters and different ways of doing things. I have met a lot of great folks, who have been nothing than kind to me and really helped me with pushing me in the direction I wished for. Thank you so much!!! :) I have found a lovely and talented guitarist to play with, a studio where I can record my songs and the singing lessons are going fine, as well! I’ve been in the studio a couple of times to record some material and I am also working on new and different projects. It’s an exciting time! I have already played two gigs over here and more are yet to more. Both gigs have been at Six Bells Pub - a small and cosy pub that has an “open mic night” every other week. The people, who come there are usually regulars and have different talents (poetry, music, folk music or singer/songwriters). The pub is really open-minded for new folks to come and play. Andrew (guitarist) and I have been singing 4-5 songs at each concert and both gigs have been great! It was an amazing feeling to start singing live in UK. Right now, I am really happy about how things have fallen into place. Yours, Eva Lucia xx

Scholarship

Currently, I am living in England close to London and near Cambridge, in a small village with a river running through the landscape and green fields. I replied for a scholarship, so I could get the chance to travel, play a lot of music and have lessons in singing and vocal training. I am living in UK for 4 months and having lessons twice a week, so there is plenty of time to do something else meanwhile – and that is of course: TO PLAY MUSIC!
It is wonderful. I am working on new creative projects. (I will tell you more about this later!) I have a lot of ideas right now and my inspiration is blooming, as the spring. I have found someone to play with and have been in the studio recording the last couple of days. I feel great and it’s wonderful to be inspired again.
Currently, I am also working on another project, which will turn into an EP (with 6 or 7 songs) – and only songs I have written in UK. I’m really looking forward to see how it works out!
In the same, I would like to thank Skanderborg-”talentpulje” for the scholarship! It is amazing that there’s such a focus and interest in supporting young people and their passions.

is being so creative

Oh, I feel so great. Today is a quiet and inspiring day. My head is spinning around with different words and melodies and sentences. It feels wonderful!
Right now, I am working on a new creative project, which will end up as an EP with 5 or 6 songs. Some of them are already done and will be ready for blooming as individuals in the studio soon.
I'm so happy!
